tim hardin - simple song of freedom - stereo remix II
Edit 2 for headphones, June 2024. Bobby Darin wrote this song for Tim Hardin, a 'repay', as Hardin had written Darin's big hit "If I were a carpenter". Recorded in 1969 James Timothy Hardin had a #19 hit with it in hurray for Holland and a #50 hit in the US. Bobby Darin died at the age of 37 after a heart surgery, Tim Hardin died of a heroin overdose at the age of 39. Don't use drugs, the minute you you start to do so a switch in your brains is turned in a bad way. Be warned.
Source of the edit is the version on the 1996 album "simple songs of freedom (the tim hardin collection)".
SIMPLE SONG OF FREEDOM
(Bobby Darin, born Walden Robert Cassotto)
come and sing a simple song of freedom
sing it like you've never sung before
let it fill the air
tell the people everywhere
we the people here don't want a war
hey there Mister Black Man can you hear me
I don't want your diamonds or your game
I just want to be someone known to you as me
and I will bet my life you want the same
come and sing a simple song of freedom
sing it like you've never sung before
let it fill the air
tell the people everywhere
we the people here don't want a war
seven hundred million are you listening
most of what you read most of what your read is made of lies
speaking one to one ain't it everybody's sun
to wake to in the morning when we rise
come and sing a simple song of freedom
sing it like you've never never sung before
let it fill the air
tell the people everywhere
we the people here don't want a war
no doubt some folks enjoy doing battle
like presidents prime ministers and kings
so let us build them shelves
so they might fight among themselves
and leave us be those who want to sing
come and sing a simple song of freedom
sing it like you've never never sung before
let it fill the air
tell the people everywhere
we the people here don't want a war
(come and sing a simple song of freedom
sing it like you've never never sung before)
speaking one to one
ain't it everybody everybody's song
to wake to in the morning when we rise when we rise
speaking one to one
ain't it everybody everybody's song
to wake to in the morning when we rise when we rise rise
