Your therapist can be problematic. Nancy had endured sexual abuse for a couple of years starting at the age of 2, and it led her to a downward spiral that culminated in her living a lesbian lifestyle, and getting deeply into drugs. She even came to the point where she felt like she wanted to be a man. When she expressed to her therapist that she would like to examine why that might be the case, her therapist was shocked - of course it is normal to want to be a man and everyone should back that up. That Nancy didn't want to go down that path was shocking to her affirming therapist.
