As a Marine veteran I paid a visit to Arlington cemetery, this is the first time I went and watched the changing of the guard at the unknown soldiers tomb. The cemetery is open from 0800 to 1700 to the public. During the summer hours the changing of the guard is done ever 30 min, winter time its ever hour. I also got to see the grave sites of John Basilone, John Archer Lejeune, and Rene A. Gagnon who was one of the Marines that raised the flag over Iwo Jima. The cemetery is 639 acers with more being added in the near future, with over 400,000 graves. You can spend the whole day here and still not see everything. There are also many other monuments and remembrance of the fallen scattered all over the grounds. So if your visiting the DC area this is a must stop by and experience site.
