Ernst Zündel (1939-2017) was a German author, and civil rights activist.

In 1977, Zündel published a 28-page pamphlet called "Did 6 Million Really Die?" written by Richard Verrall.

As a result of this pamphlet, in 1983, Sabina Citron, founder of the Canadian holocaust remembrance association, filed a private complaint against Zündel before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

In 1984, the Ontario government joined the criminal proceedings against Zündel based on Citron's complaint.

Zündel underwent two criminal trials in 1985 and 1988 for the charge of "spreading false news."

To wage the legal battle that was forced upon him, he brought together an impressive all-star international team of researchers, scientists, legal specialists, scholars, and many others.

As a result of the two trials, an enormous quantity of evidence and testimony challenging the prevailing narrative was presented to the court under oath and thereby made part of the permanent public record.

Prior to the trial, the jewish defense league, now classified as a terrorist organization, protested the trial, and allegedly made numerous threats on Zündel's life, and allegedly planted a pipe bomb at his house.

Was this all done in an attempt to silence his testimony from seeing the light of day?

Zündel filed a pre-trial motion to drop the charges on the basis of free speech.

The judge denied the motion, claiming "such freedoms were not absolute and there wasn't an unbridled right to say what you think."

His second motion to exclude jews from the jury was also denied.

Arnold Friedman, a key witness to the prosecution, who was at Auschwitz, testified that he saw prisoners marched towards the gas chambers and saw smoke and flames rise from
the chimney.

Upon cross examination, he admitted that he had never witnessed mass executions or gassings.

The holocaust expert witness for the prosecution, Raul Hillberg, upon cross examination, admitted that there was no single report that the existence of gas chambers and no written record in existence ordering the mass extermination of the jews.

Rudolph Vrba, an Auschwitz escapee, wrote in his memoir that 12,000 were killed per day in the camp and had witnessed their gassings.

When pressed about the accuracy of his claims, he said his book was dramatized and an "artistic representation rather than a historical event."

Robert Faurisson testified on behalf of the defense that the gas chambers and the holocaust are historical lies.

He testified that he believed the casualties totaled from 200k-350k and stated that there was no physical evidence of gas chambers or mass execution orders.

Russell Barton testified on behalf of the defense that during his time with the Red Cross, upon the liberation of the camps, he saw no evidence to support a German policy of systematic extermination and testified that the deaths were primarily a result of starvation and typhus.

Thies Christophersen was sent to Auschwitz as a scientist researching the development of synthetic rubber.

Working side by side with the inmates, Christophersen testified that Auschwitz was a clean and happy work camp, and there was no evidence of gas chambers

Dr. William Lindsey, an American industrial chemist, testified that zyclon B was used for delousing both prisoners and officers, and its application as a mass gassing agent was an impossibility.

He also refuted testimony about flames shooting through the chimney day and night.

Ditlieb Felderer testified on behalf of the defense that during his 27 visits to Auschwitz, he witnessed an Olympic sized swimming pool, a banquet room, a sauna, a dance hall, and an orchestra that would perform for the inmates.

He described the alleged gas chambers as a fake.

Roger Dommergue, a jewish scholar, recorded an audio cassette affidavit for Zündel's defense.

He stated, "The only thing we know about Hitler is that he killed six million jews, which never existed, in gas chambers, which nobody ever saw. That's all we know for sure."

Zündel took the stand and testified in his own defense. He explained to the court how his beliefs were formed through years of tireless research in search of the truth and fueled by his desire to rid the German people of the stigma that was a direct result of a historical lie.

Ivan Legacé, a cremation expert, testified for the defense. He refuted that 4400 bodies were being cremated daily at Auschwitz, claiming it was "preposterous and outside the realm of reality."

He stated that the maximum possible number of cremations daily was 184.

David Irving testified for Zündel, stating that "There isn't a shred of evidence that Hitler ordered the mass extermination of the jews" He produced evidence in court that the British psychological warfare executive engineered the gas chamber story as atrocity propaganda.

Zündel commissioned Fred Leuchter, a gas chamber expert, to travel to Auschwitz, Treblinka and Majdanek to conduct a forensic analysis of the alleged gas chambers.

He sampled the soil and brick, took measurements, drew floorplans, and sent the samples to a lab for analysis.

Fred Leuchter's report compiled from his forensic analysis of the alleged gas chambers and gave evidence that the chambers were incapable of supporting hydrogen cyanide gas for the purpose of mass execution and had never been used as gas chambers.

On 8 May 1995, Zündels Toronto residence was set on fire, resulting in $400,000 in damage.

A group that called itself the "Jewish Armed Resistance Movement, claimed responsibility for the arson attack. The group had ties to the JDL and Meir Halevi.

The Zündel Prophecy - Zündel believed that eventually in the United States there would be Wiemar like conditions that would bring about solutions to the Weimar conditions, and that it will be very similar to what happened in Germany.
