It is hard to mark a movie such as this, I gave it a 7 just before I liked more a lot of other movies, but essentially, for what the movie wanted to be, it was almost flawless. The script is funny, with a lot of irony and humor unlike the silly childish humor most Chinese movie have. Combine this with the references to American cult movies and you get something edible for the Western public. But it's not only this. The action scenes are great, but so are scenes in other movies. What sets this one apart is the choice that the director makes NOT to follow walked paths, be innovative, funny, and subtle in the same time. You will find major themes of human stories in this movie but packed so nicely with unexpected vision that you end up feeling you've seen a film unlike any other. And so it is. 👀 Watch this one, especially if you are an Asian movie fan.

Great performances here, in this blend of comedy and high-flying soccer action. Stephen Chow as Sing packs one hell of a kick!! His chemistry with Ng Man Tat (Golden Leg) is natural as it is in most of their films together. Plus, Sing's Shaolin brothers provide a lot of comic relief!! From their soccer training to the championship game, there are cool Kung-Fu soccer shots, and a mix of Matrix/Crouch Tiger special effects and it delivers. Oh, and Vicki Zhao steals this in the end (you have to see it). The Bruce Lee goalie scene is priceless. This movie can be watched several times with even more satisfaction!

This is a very good movie. I have laughed out loud and cried real tears, and that doesn't happen often! There are elements in the movie like in Shaolin Soccer, and it has some of Gremlins. Not everything that happens is possible (like in Shaolin Soccer), but that doesn't disturb the slightest, on the contrary, it's very funny. The young boy is a very good actor; amazingly so (he appears to be at most 10 years old). If anything is wrong with movie then it's that it's too short. I wish it was twice as long! I can highly recommend to watch this with children, but don't let them watch alone, as it contains a very sad scene that might need some hugging to get through.

... as it is sometimes called "The Return of the Five Deadly Venoms", this is vintage Shaw Brothers Kung-Fu at its finest.
Three men show up at a man's house to kill him, only he's not home, so they decide to chop off his wife's legs and hack off his small son's hands. Just then, the father returns home and calmly slaughters the three killers. Unfortunately, his wife perishes from her wounds, but the son survives, and the father sees to it that he is fitted with fully articulated metal hands. After training into adulthood, the son uses his metal-handed Kung-Fu prowess to cripple the grown children of his mother's killers. And all this just in the first fifteen minutes! All this training and revenge has left the father and son mean and violent. When a traveler makes an impolite comment, they blind him. When the local blacksmith dares speak out, they render him deaf and mute. When a passerby offers help, they chop off his feet! And finally, when a wandering hero promises to avenge these crimes, they defeat him, put his head in a vice, and give him brain damage! The four victims of the original victims band together and travel to a wise old Kung-Fu master who trains them to overcome their handicaps and become The Crippled Avengers! Exciting, colorful and ludicrous in equal measure, this film manages to outdo its more famous predecessor. Highly recommended to fans of the genre and bizarre cinema buffs. This genre is not up my film alley, but this one I enjoyed.

Jack and his partner, Detective Harry Temple find Payne and corner him but instead of giving in, he blows himself up. He is believed to be dead but has actually escaped and tries again to extort money from the city. This time he has placed a bomb on a bus that will arm itself once it reaches 50 mph and will explode if it drops below that speed. Payne dares Jack to stop him and tells whereabouts of where the bus will soon be and the rules of his twisted game. If Jack or the LAPD try and unload any passengers off the bus, Payne will detonate it. Jack tries to stop the bus before the bomb is armed but it's too late; all he can do now is to keep it going. With Harry trying to find Payne and Jack running out of Freeway and gas - This is one bus ride no one wants to miss.

'Speed' has to be the ultimate action film, involving you in an intense experience from the opening credits until the smash-bang climax. Not only do Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock do top work, but Dennis Hopper makes the most compelling villain of the '90s.
It all starts with a revenge-driven extortionist letting authorities know he has planted a bomb on a bus. The catch is it will explode if the bus is driven at less than fifty miles an hour. The script races along with non-stop action and surprise twists, without ever giving the audience time to stop for breath. It's a little too intense for its good and could have used some lighter moments to give us a break!
Taut and suspenseful, with excellent effects and gripping suspense that keeps you riveted. Some of the stunts seem too incredible to be believable but in a film of this kind, you have to go with the flow. The stunt work is breathtaking and makes it easy to see why the film is one of the most highly-rated action films of the '90s.

The film develops nicely from the beginning nearly till the end, the last 15 minutes of the film are rather unnecessary. Although not the best 80s film, it is a great imaginary film, with pretty cool SFX. Bill Paxton did an exceptionally good performance, I had total fun watching this movie, and you will too!

The second is "Den", which chronicles the adventures of a nerdish teenager who is thrown into the fantasy world of Neverwhere, where he is transformed into a handsome muscleman, desired by beautiful women, who must get involved in a conflict revolving around possession of the Loc-Nar. The third is "Captain Sternn", where the title character is a handsome but irredeemable scoundrel who stands accused in a trial that the Loc-Nar throws into chaos. The fourth is "B-17", where a World War II bomber plane limps home after a bombing run, only to have the Loc-Nar ram into it and revive the dead crew members as murderous zombies. The next is "So Beautiful, So Dangerous", where a voluptuous secretary at the Pentagon is abducted by stoned alien wastrels and an oversexed robot. The final story is "Taarna", where the Loc-Nar has to come to a future Earth and changes a peaceful people into a horde of murderous barbarians who rampage with genocidal zeal. Only the last Tarrakian, a silent warrior woman known as Taarna, can avenge the victims and stop the Loc-Nar.

One of my all-time favorite flicks is this animated anthology of stories all bound together by this glowing green "Locnar," an orb of evil unmatched in all of time and space. The animations are terrific: "Harry Canyon" about a futuristic cabbie in NYC, "DEN" about a nerd who is transported to a far-off land as a hulking muscleman, "Taarna" about mankind's last stand against the power of the "Locnar," and others. My personal favorite is the short "B-17" about a bomber in WWII and the horrible power of the "Locnar." As I mentioned previously, the animation is spectacular...reminding me of a day when not everything was computer-generated. Features Cheap Trick, Riggs, Nazareth, Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Devo, and others on the kicking soundtrack. Overall, a classic of the 80's: one that shouldn't be missed at any cost. My Highest Recommendation.

A police officer is brought out of suspended animation in prison to pursue an old ultra-violent nemesis who is loose in a non-violent future society. In the late 20th century, Simon Phoenix is a psychotic criminal who is extremely elusive. He took some people hostage. John Spartan is a cop who is known as the Demolition Man because he demolishes property to get to his man. When Spartan thinks the hostages are dead, he goes after Phoenix blowing up the building he was in. But when he turns Phoenix in, traces of the hostages are found and it's believed that they could have been alive. Spartan says they were already dead but Phoenix says they were alive. Spartan would then be charged and found guilty and sentenced to a cryogenic prison as is Phoenix. 36 years later Phoenix is released for his parole hearing but he escapes and goes on rampage. The police try to apprehend him, but it turns out that the police are less aggressive, so Phoenix escapes. So when it is discovered that Spartan was the one who caught Phoenix he is released and tasked with finding him. But Phoenix is now stronger than he was 36 years ago, Spartan wonders how is this possible.

Demolition Man is a movie that I love, but some others seem to have mixed feelings about. The main complaint I've seen is that people ask whether this is comedy or action. It is both. I think it is the perfect blend of action and comedy. You get great action, funny one-liners, more action, and more jokes. The comedy doesn't outweigh the action, and to me that is good. It's not impossible to have 2 genres in a movie. The Tremors series was horror/comedy. This is a good Action/Comedy. I love the action in this movie, it is top-notch. Wesley Snipes was on top of things. He sold this movie for me and played the role of Simon Phoenix to perfection. Stallone is of course great as the good action hero. No complaints about any performance. The music is good as well. My only complaint is that it the movie is a touch long, but when I watch it I don't notice it. 10/10, it does its job perfectly and keeps me entertained every time I watch it.

Almost thirty years to the day of Frank's death, John finds Frank's old ham radio, which Frank used to use all the time to speak to people around the world. A discussion about the 1969 World Series with the first person he makes contact with on the radio makes John ultimately come to the realization that he is speaking to his father who is using the same ham radio and sitting at the same desk in the same house exactly thirty years earlier. Although they don't know the reason for being able to contact each other, John tries to use whatever knowledge he has to help his father, especially in averting the cause of his death. But John and Frank learn that knowledge is a powerful tool that can result in both good and bad as John works on a "new" thirty-year-old ongoing case of murdered nurses, the case coined the "Nightingale murders" which has a personal connection to the Sullivan family.

An excellent movie, what a pleasant surprise. I can't remember the last time I was in a movie where the audience applauded at the end, and at scenes during the movie, too. It could be called a thriller, but that's just a part of what the movie was about. It was filled with well-placed sentimentality and timely humor. Not a moment in the movie was there a wasted scene or a time when I lost interest. Yes, a Hollywood ending, but like most good things, it's the journey, not the destination that makes it worthwhile. I saw it at a sneak preview, and I will go see it again in general release. I highly recommend it. It's not an epic, but it is the best movie I've seen in years.

I was only going to rate this until I decided to read some of the comments. This was easily the best one since the original. Not even close to me. I was hopefully when Shane Black did a "reboot" in 2018 I believe. I was disappointed. This was taking the franchise back to the basics and that was a good thing! If you liked what Rogue One meant to Star Wars then this story will connect with you. I loved the cinematography. It was beautiful. The acting was really good. Don't worry that the lead actors aren't more well known. I was really not expecting much to be honest. The sequels since The Predator have been letdowns. I only watched because the trailer had me with taking it so far back in time. At an hour and forty min it wasn't too short or too long. It was the perfect run time. I hope that you like Prey as much as me. Happy hunting!

Supposing you are just one person, there are many other versions of you in the other universes, there are ways to travel, but only a police agency, MVA, can travel only for police procedures. Gabriel Yulaw is a former MVA agent, who killed another version of himself in self-defense. It made the other versions of him stronger. When Yulaw found out about this, he became power-hungry killing the 122 other versions for two years. After killing Lawless and getting captured by his former partner Roedecker and a new MVA agent Funsch, Yulaw managed to escape the prison and is trying to kill his last target, Gabe Law who is a police officer. He is also at Yulaw's strength. Roedecker and Funsch now have to arrest Yulaw before he can kill Gabe. There is a possibility that the universe could die or make Yulaw invincible. After encountering Yulaw for the first time, Gabe thought that it was his split personality, but it wasn't. Will Gabe be able to confront Yulaw before or after Yulaw ruins his life?

Jet Li and Jet Li star in this goofy sci-fi flick about a power-hungry sociopath Yulaw (Jet Li) who goes dimension-hopping on a killing spree focused on his alternate universe counterparts. As Yu Law finally comes to what I must assume is our universe to kill the last remaining version of himself - Gabriel Law - both his and his counterpart's strength, intelligence and agility have been increased to superhuman levels by the deaths (quickenings?) of previous counterparts. Predictably, the pace is furious and deadly. Many people are caught up in the violence of the ensuing battle, and, of course, since the honest, hard-working, and altogether decent Gabe Law appears to be responsible for all of it, he becomes a wanted fugitive. Besides being pursued by this earth's police, both men are also sought by an inter-dimensional police force seeking to imprison Yulaw on a far-off prison planet.
Gabe Law is a likable character who works as a prison guard and has a loving wife. The few minutes of character development permitted by the furious pace of this film are what makes it work. And although the plot seems a bit like a pastiche of recent sci-fi clichés, at least the combination of clichés assembled for The One is original.
📌 Recommended for sci-fi action and martial arts fans.

Jet Li stars as a youth raised by the killer (Bob Hoskins) of his mother, and trained to be a "pit bull" fighter in a series of anything-goes martial arts matches. That part of the movie has been depicted a thousand times before, although it is always great to see Li doing his thing against a veritable army of bad guys. But this story takes a rather novel twist: Li meets a blind pianist (Morgan Freeman) who exposes him to the beauty of music and alters his life forever. Li decides he no longer wants to fight, escapes his longtime captor and is off and running from Hoskins and a platoon of thugs. A prolonged battle in and around an apartment complex has to be seen to be believed. While there are plenty of fights and nonstop action, the movie also considers what it would be like to live a contemplative life. I could not imagine Jackie Chan or Bruce Lee pulling this off.

As an animator, I have a thing for movies where real people and cartoons collide, so I decided to watch this film and afterward, I thought it was a really good movie. First off, the animation is great. The characters are likable and fun to see on screen, and the whole idea of the movie is interesting. Though some of the acting is bad, the plot isn't fully explained, and the ending is a little anti-climactic, the rest of the film makes up for it. I also enjoyed the sub-plot of the film, and Holli Would's dancing (though it was rotoscoped). But overall I do believe this is an underrated film because it contains the sexiest cartoon ever made: Holli Would. I'd recommend this film to a friend, and to watch it a second time. It is a film you'll remember.

There are loads of movies, audio, and written material accessible to the mass public shouting 'bad globalization', ugly politics, etc, etc. however, they never go into detail, never explaining what it means, how we've come to this point, and what were the reasons.
This is not that kind of movie. It goes deeper into the beginning of so-called globalization in the most analytical detail I've seen. Pilger took one specific country (Indonesia) and the '60s where it all started. J. Pilger asks brave, direct questions to each side involved and gets back different views on said topic. And Here you can see that one can bear the responsibility of the system, every corporation, every government can account for a tiny little part of the "evil" and therefore stay virtually clean.
I've heard people don't like these kinds of movies cause they don't give you any hint on solutions. They shouldn't give. They are to make you think, to make you aware. Nevertheless, it teaches people to recognize professional, analytical documentaries (or interview essays in this case) like this one from manipulative, shouting pieces of garbage that flood the public knowledge.
It's a shame that this is the first comment on this movie which is 7 years old by now.

➤ 'A historical look into population control...' by bmac-1250216 February 2019

This is a long historical documentary on mind control, and ultimately, population control. It gives the viewer an in-depth look into the CIA's MK-Ultra program and its myriad of sub-projects, all geared towards the goal of controlling the human mind and manipulating populations. Granted, it's over 3 hours long, but I found the length necessary to thoroughly learn about the subject from its inception to its conclusion. For the last century, governments have been experimenting with their populations, often without public knowledge or consent, in hopes of finding that single key, data point, or formula that would lead them to ultimately control whole populations of people. It's no surprise today we have social media platforms, based on feedback loops, which have captured the minds of people like an opioid. This film is a good stepping-off point for observing the manipulation that occurs today. It almost seems ubiquitous.

➤ 'Thrilling and Dark' by disdressed1215 August 2016
I liked this film. It's in a similar vein as the original The Omen(1976 ), and it has a fair amount of thrilling scenes.
there's lots of action. The acting is good all around, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars, with Robin Tunney and Kevin Pollock. Gabriel Byrne, who also starred in Stigmata the same year, is in this film as well. The rest of the supporting cast is also very good. For me, this supernatural thriller is exactly that. It's very thrilling and dark, although there are some amusing bits to release the tension. If you like this movie, I would recommend the original Omen(1976)and the remake (2006 for me, End of Days is a 7/10
