In this episode of our Gulf Coast food travel vlog we do a restaurant review video in Gulf Shores at Jesse’s On The Bay for our best burger search. Jesse’s On The Bay is a waterfront restaurant located in Gulf Shores, Alabama at 1631 Crosswinds Court which is about 203 miles and 3 hours away from the New Orleans French Quarter. Jesse’s On The Bay is located right on the water where you get a fantastic view of Bon Secour Bay and Mobile Bay. When doing your Gulf Shores vacation planning make sure to look at Jesse’s On The Bay as one of your beach dining options. If you are looking for where the locals eat in Gulf Shores many locals we asked say Jesse’s On The Bay is one of their favorite places to eat for a restaurant on the water. Your trip to the beach could certainly use one of Gulf Shores best burgers at Jesse’s On The Bay for some local cuisine during your visit.

The air crackled with anticipation, a palpable energy coursing through the crowd. It was the Fourth of July, and all eyes were on Joey Chestnut, the reigning champion of Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, a man who had become a legend in the world of competitive eating. But this year, something is different, something that had never been seen before in this arena. Joey Chestnut has won Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog-Eating Contest 16 times including victories every year since 2016! Joey has made a fateful choice to represent one of Nathan's Hot Dog brands rivals which has resulted in him not being allowed to participate in the upcoming 2024 July 4th contest. Alongside the traditional meat-filled hot dogs, a new contender had emerged - the vegan hot dog, a plant-based alternative that promised to change the game. According to sources Joey Chestnut is now representing the Impossible Foods brand which is focused on making meatless meats and they have just released a frankfurter made from plants. Negotiations have been ongoing but so far unfruitful as Nathan's Hot Dog brand can't accept Joey advertising for a rival hot dog brand at their contest. There is still the possibility the two sides could reach an agreement that might still allow Joey Chestnut to participate in the July 4th event but sources say that is all up to Joey! This seemingly simple advertising brand disagreement has ignited a firestorm of debate, highlighting the growing influence of veganism on even the most entrenched traditions, sparking conversations that went beyond the contest itself. This wasn't just about hot dogs; it was a reflection of broader societal changes. It was about our relationship with food and how it shapes our identities, our values, and our understanding of the world around us, challenging us to rethink what we eat and why. The inclusion of vegan options in traditional food events, while welcomed by some, was met with resistance by others, exposing a c..

In this episode of our New Orleans travel vlog we are in the Riverbend area of New Orleans at Bourree Cajun Smokehouse on a travel search for the best roast beef poboy options in New Orleans. Bourree Cajun Smokehouse is an expansion of Chef Nathanial Zimet’s Boucherie Restaurant which is right at the end of the block and around the corner. Bourree Cajun Smokehouse is located at 1510 South Carrollton Avenue which is about 15 minutes and 6 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. The building that Bourree is currently in was an Italian restaurant for a long time that opened back in the 90’s called Café Nino that was run by the owner Chef Nino who was a fantastic fellow. Café Nino was a cash only dive joint where you selected from the daily entrees on display in a cafeteria style buffet and they also had pizza. So I always have a hard time adjusting to the fact that this spot is no longer Café Nino but is now Bourree. So I have been eating the 12 Hour Roast Beef Po’Boy with horseradish cream & pickled red onion from Chef Zimet ever since he started selling it out of his purple food truck and at many of the local festivals. These days the only festival where they still sell their food is at the Oak Street Po-Boy Festival. We continue our best roast beef po’boy quest as first we feast with me through the New Orleans restaurants for the best New Orleans food at the best New Orleans restaurants. Clover Grilli s located on the infamous Bourbon Street in New Orleans famous French Quarter at 900 Bourbon Street. In this episode of our New Orleans Restaurant Review Videos we are visiting Barcelona Tapas which is one of my all time favorite restaurants! In my opinion this Spanish restaurant is currently New Orleans best Spanish cuisine and one of the very few authentic Spanish tapas options in New Orleans which we will soon see in this Spanish food review video. Barcelona Tapas is located in the New Orleans Riverbend area at 720 Dublin Street which is about 16 minutes and 6 miles away from the New Orleans French Quarter. The owner and chef of this restaurant, Xavier Laurentino, is from Barcelona, Spain and he has a definite knowledge of Spanish food along with plenty of experience with many other cuisines. Chef Laurentino opened his first restaurant Laurentino’s in Metairie back in 2002 and that is where I first enjoyed Chef Laurentino’s amazing food. Laurentino’s closed in 2009 and in 2010 Xavier opened Barcelona Tapas in New Orleans so I have continued to enjoy the wonderful food and fun here ever since. Chef Laurentino also has skills in construction and built much of Barcelona Tapas himself so it is nice to admire all the hard work he put into the space. The transition from Laurentino’s to Barcelona Tapas did lead to menu changes and some of my favorite dishes are sadly no longer offered but there is still an amazing selection of fantastic food. There have been many other restaurants that have come and gone in the Riverbend area while Barcelona Tapas has remained with a dedicated local following. Many people consider this one of the best Spanish food options in New Orleans and they provide some amazing food options along with a lot of fun.

If you are looking for Mississippi fun things to do in secret spots that only the locals know then Union Falls is a Mississippi beach paradise few seem to know about! This Mississippi Secret is unknown to most people outside the area. This local favorite spot in Mississippi was long famous for its bridge jumping and then for the nearby relaxing Union Falls beach area. Time has taken its toll unfortunately and now the bridge jumping is discouraged in multiple ways as the river seems to no longer be maintained in a safe way to allow jumping anymore. The Union Falls however is still a beautiful spot to enjoy a wonderful beach spot in the middle of nowhere! If you are looking for a big Mississippi secret this is the place to be!

Louisiana Cajun culture has a traditional form of alternative and complimentary medicine known as traitement which is a form of faith healing performed by healers known as traiteurs. This form of folk medicine is found primarily among the Cajun population in the Acadiana area of Louisiana. Being a traiteur and practicing traitement is a practice which follows traditions based on a philosophy, a way of life and a practice deeply rooted in rural Louisiana communities. Traiteurs are practitioners of a unique form of faith healing known as 'traitement' that often uses a blend of prayer, ritual gestures, and natural remedies. This isn't only about healing; it's about the cultural response to illness, the interaction of a community with its environment. a harmonious blend of prayer, ritual gestures, and natural remedies. The traiteurs, or healers, use the power of prayer to channel positive energy and invoke divine grace. It's a holistic approach that sees illness not just as a physical ailment but as a disruption of the harmony between the individual and their environment. It's about restoring this balance, this sense of well-being that extends beyond the physical realm. it's not just a job or a profession, but a vocation, a calling if you will. The traiteurs are driven by a deep sense of duty and commitment to their community.

Imagine a world where the magic of Disney was nestled in the heart of the Big Easy, New Orleans. Yes, you heard it right. There are rumors Walt Disney himself considered New Orleans as the location for Disney World. This isn't just a complete fanciful notion; it's a slice of possible history that teeters on the edge of reality and rumor. Picture the excitement of Disneyland, with its enchanting princesses and thrilling rides, set against the backdrop of New Orleans' vibrant culture and jazz-filled streets. That was the vision that Walt Disney, the man behind the mouse, once held in his mind's eye. The rumors suggest that Disney's love for the city was so profound that he planned to bring his magical kingdom to New Orleans. Imagine Mickey Mouse sharing a stage with jazz musicians and princesses parading down Bourbon Street.
