Definitely one of the stranger episodes. 😂

"Disclosure" is an early cyber oriented thriller from 1994 directed by Barry Levinson and based on the novel by Michael Crichton, and explores power dynamics, sexual harassment, and false accusations in the workplace. The standout performances by Michael Douglas and Demi Moore are simply exceptional. Douglas portrays a successful computer executive who becomes the victim of sexual harassment by his new female boss, and former lover, played by Moore. The roles are reversed in this film, challenging traditional gender norms and shedding light on a rarely discussed issue. The film does an excellent job of exploring the complexities of power, ambition, and gender dynamics, making it still highly relevant today. The production design is stunning and memorable, with sleek and stylish cinematography that adds to the overall atmosphere of the film, along with some surprising special effects. Donald Sutherland and Dennis Miller co-star and are excellent, but the real treat here is the fascinating look at the early world of personal computers and the internet, when email was still a novelty, and virtual reality somehow seemed right over the horizon. Highly entertaining throughout with a nice soundtrack by Ennio Morricone, even if the computers and early elements of the internet shown from those days, now seem rather quaint.

"Silver Streak" is a unique and highly entertaining comedy thriller mystery adventure from 1976 starring Gene Wilder, Richard Pryor, Jill Clayburgh, Patrick McGoohan, Ned Beatty, Richard Kiel, Ray Walston, Scatman Crothers, and many more. A meekish and overworked book editor (Wilder), looking for a little rest and relaxation, finds romance but a whole lot more as he gets caught up in a murder plot while traveling cross country on a train called the Silver Streak. Directed by Arthur Hiller in a Hitchcockian style, this Colin Higgins script was the first teamup of Wilder and Pryor and it's literally magic. And we are also treated to a memorable musical score by Henry Mancini. The affection and chemistry between Wilder and Clayburgh is also a delight. This movie really has got a little bit of everything and it all works flawlessly, culminating in an exciting, breathless climax which throws in some unexpected special effects as well. Pure fun.

You gotta answer to yourself
You can't depend on anyone else
You gotta know where you stand
And what's in your hands
Yeah, you gotta answer to yourself
You gotta write down what you know
You gotta make sure that it's known
Because they're coming along to see what you've done
And they're gonna claim it for their own
You got a rabbit in your hat
You got a few tricks up your sleeve
Don't get stuck in a rut
Or stuck in the same
You got exactly what you need
You got a talent, don't you know?
You're more talented than you know
And you give it a shot
And give it the time
And be surprised how far it goes
But I think I'm gonna die
Before I see my time
But I think I'm gonna die
Trying anyway
You gotta answer to yourself
Two days a week outside yourself
You take an hour a day, an hour a day
And you don't respond to anyone else
You got a few things on your shelf
You got to look through for yourself
You gotta choose what to read
Choose what to believe
And you don't take it from anyone else
But I think I'm gonna die
Before I see my time
But I think I'm gonna die
Trying anyway
But I think I'm gonna die
Before I see my time
But I think I'm gonna die
Trying anyway

The infectious energy of the musical numbers, coupled with the compelling performances, creates a sense of nostalgia and optimism that is hard to resist. The movie skillfully addresses important social and political issues of the time, such as the Vietnam War and racial inequality, while also exploring timeless themes of acceptance and self-discovery. With its memorable soundtrack, dynamic choreography, and a captivating storyline, this remains a must-watch film that continues to resonate with audiences today, and of course, was the dawning of the age of Aquarius...

"The Star Chamber," released in 1983, is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that explores the dark side of the justice system, and the oftentimes lack of justice in that same construct. Directed by Peter Hyams, the film follows the tale of a group of LA court judges who form a clandestine organization to deliver justice when the legal system fails, fails in their juried opinion. The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Michael Douglas, Hal Holbrook, and Yaphet Kotto, who deliver powerful performances and twists and turns aplenty. With its intense plot, intricate characters, and moral and ethical dilemmas, this often forgotten film offers a thought-provoking examination of the flaws in the judicial system and the lengths some individuals will go, to uphold justice, or prevent it. Intelligent and expertly paced, examined here is the concept of vigilante justice and the perils and complications which may ensure. This film effectively captures the atmosphere of its time and location, but still remains relevant decades later.

"Gallipoli" is an engrossing 1981 war drama directed by Peter Weir and based on true events in World War One. Two very young athletic Australian men, Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) and Archy Hamilton (Mark Lee) become friends and enlist in the Australian Imperial Force, looking to get involved in the ongoing adventure overseas. That adventure seems real at first as they go through training and are shipped out to exotic foreign lands. Their innocent illusions are shattered however when they are sent to actual combat in the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey, where they experience the harsh realities of the insanities of war. The cinematography, capturing stunning landscapes in Australia and Egypt, is superb and contrasts the beauty of nature with the desolate horrors of the battlefields. The growing friendship and comrardery between the two leads is deliberately but brilliantly paced, culminating in one of the most powerful and devastating film endings ever, of any genre. A compelling anti-war classic which demonstrates that actual warfare may be a lot of things, but it is not an adventure.
